Looking back at my 40 years in the trades, I am thankful for my many experiences. At times it was an education achieved the hard way; other times it couldn't have been better!

Business, and the construction trades especially, can often be cut-throat and adversarial. Many are in it strictly for the dollar, and nothing else. While I believe that being profitable is mandatory, I have made it a part of my business model to steer away from the adversarial type who are only in it for the money.

I believe we are all a team. That we each have a position to play. And that everyone--from the general contractor to our office staff to our craftsmen in the shop and field--should be treated with honor and respect. It has been my dream that these business values I have established not be lost, but be built upon should it come time for the next generation to join our team.

It seems, after four decades and dozens of life-long friendships formed with like-minded clients, that time has come here at Newman Steel. As the transition plays out and the youth movement comes in with my son, Aaron Newman, I feel very excited for the future. Journeyman Welder/Erector

Looking for motivated journeyman welder/erector with experience in fabricating and installing structural steel for residential builds. Must be able to read plans, work around other tradesmen in a professional manner, and communicate with project managers and office personnel with a positive team mentality.

Field Supervisor

Seeking professional field supervisor responsible for supervising field operations and employees on job sites, predominately custom residential builds. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills to coordinate with multiple internal departments as well as outside contractors and sub-contractors, and the ability to delegate with confidence.

• 5 years' experience required
